The fourth annual Air Miles’ Sports day, which had record participation this year with teams from over 45 leading UAE companies competing, saw local retailers - Empost, Damas, Al Ansari Exchange and Al Ghandi Electronics - take top honours in football and cricket tournaments.
Empost won the football cup, seeing off a strong Al Ansari Exchange team in an exciting final. Mahmood Mohamed from Empost who scored a decisive goal in his team’s 3-2 win, rightfully earned the best player award.
On winning the best player title, Mahmood Mohamed said, “This is a real honour. There are some great players and teams here. We all look forward to the Air Miles sports day as its great to play against all these other teams who we normally only deal with on a professional level.”
While Abu Dhabi’s New Medical Centre (NMC) emerged as cricket champions, HSBC scooped the ladies throwball tournament title for the third consecutive year.
Other participants included Spinneys, Lamcy Plaza, Hertz and Chilis. Air Miles prizes were also up for grabs, with top players in each sport taking home DVD players and other electronics and household appliances.
