ALBAWABA - Portuguese authorities said on Thursday that at least 11 foreigners were among the injured in Lisbon's iconic funicular derailment.

Emergency services outlined that two Germans, two Spaniards, a Frenchwoman, an Italian, a Swiss national, a Canadian, a South Korean, a Moroccan and a person from Cape Verde were hurt in the derailment.

The death toll in Lisbon's iconic funicular derailment jumped to 17, with 21 others injured.

The crash took place on Wednesday evening in one of the most famous tourist spots, saw the yellow Gloria funicular went off the track near Liberty Avenue and crashed into a building.

The German foreign ministry told AFP, "Unfortunately, we must assume that German citizens are also among those who have been affected. There is currently no reliable information on the number."
