LG Electronics, the world’s leading innovator of home appliances, announced that it will produce its Art home appliance, covered in floral patterns created by famous Korean painter Seung-rim Ha and embedded with sparkling Swarovski crystal.

Seung-rim Ha created the flowery prints that adorn the refrigerators and washing machines after LG sought out the renowned Korean painter to help design a refrigerator and a washing machine as beautiful as it was functional. For an even more sophisticated look, LG’s designers surrounded Ha’s motif with Swarovski crystal, giving it a truly distinguished air. LG plans to expand this artistic product line to include washing machines, air conditioners and other household appliances.

The Art home appliance is the first product developed collaboratively with world renowned artists to be mass produced in Korea. LG has invested more than USD 30 million in this project that brings together digital appliances and art. LG plans to introduce its next masterpiece developed with Young Se Kim, who is the hottest industrial designer in Korea and CEO of Inno Design. More aesthetic appliances are on the drawing board.

“Design is part of LG’s overall philosophy for creating better products for our customers,” said Young Ha Lee, president and CEO of LG Electronics Digital Appliance Company.

“Today’s customers not only want appliances with better functions but also fit the style of their home decor. Our artist-inspired products are a response to that need, and they show our commitment to providing premium value and enhancing our customers’ lifestyles.”

LG solidified its existing commitment to design in every aspect of product development from planning to customer marketing communication and service. LG calls this concept "Design Management." Earlier this year the company was recognised as a leader in design, winning in a record-breaking 20 categories at the red dot Design Awards, including the Design Team of the Year award, and in 11 categories at the prestigious iF Design Awards.

LG is considering launching this special model in other markets based on consumer response.
