In less than 48 hours: Algerian army kills 16 alleged armed Islamists

Algerian security forces have shot dead ten alleged armed Islamists in the western provinces of Algeria, KUNA reported Friday. Eight gunmen were killed in a first operation Thursday in the Saida province, 350 kms west of Algiers.‏  

 

The two others were killed in a second operation the same day in a combing operation in the Gelizane province, more than 300 kms west of the capital.‏  

 

The army seized arms and ammunitions in the two operations. ‏ 

 

On Thursday it was reported that Algerian troops killed six alleged armed Islamists in the mountains of Assass in the province of Tlemcen, 650 kilometers west of Algiers.‏ (Albawaba.com)
