Lebanon’s President Emile Lahoud called upon the United States to be objective and positively neutral in dealing with the Middle East crisis.

In the course of a meeting with a former American senator, originally of Lebanese origin, James Abu Rezq, Lahoud urged the US administration, "not to enable the Israeli Prime Minister to exploit the consequences of the September 11 events and the international move towards combating terrorism to impose his aggressive policy against Palestinians, and to undermine the exerted endeavors to apply the United Nations international resolutions as well as the chances stemming from them including the Arab initiative set forth in the Beirut summit."

According to KUNA, on his part, former Senator Abu Rezq conveyed that, "the Shebaa farms” are “Lebanese territory and Israel has to pull out” from them. (albawaba.com)
