Authorities at Beirut International Airport have confiscated military equipment, including helmets, uniforms and communications gear, brought from Belarus to be smuggled to Iraq, officials said Tuesday.

Security officials told AP the equipment was brought aboard a flight from Belarus on Sunday night and intended for transit by land to Iraq, via Syria.

An Iraqi diplomat in Beirut said that Iraq has no link whatsoever with the equipment or the importers. (Albawaba.com)
