An apartment building collapsed Tuesday in Egypt's southern city of Aswan, killing at least five people and wounding 17, the Interior Ministry said.
Rescue workers were searching the debris for other victims. It was not clear what caused the collapse of the building, The AP reported.
Officials said there were many buildings in Aswan put up without proper licensing and inspection, a common occurrence in Egypt where shoddy construction and the unauthorized addition floors often causes buildings to fall down.
