A huge explosion demolished a house in western Baghdad during an overnight operation by Iraqi police, razing at least five nearby buildings and killing at least 28 people including seven policemen, police said on Wednesday. According to Reuters, police said the house had been raided because it was a suspected base for foreign fighters.
By dawn, U.S. and Iraqi forces had sealed off the area.
Locals said they believed the house had been used by foreign Arab fighters. However, there was no confirmation for this.
