A suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle outside a police station west of the Iraqi city of Ramadi on Monday, killing at least 12 Iraqis. "12 Iraqi soldiers have been killed when a booby-trapped car exploded in the western part of Al-Ramadi," Al-Jazeera TV reported on Monday.
Elsewhere, a car bomb went off at a police checkpoint in western Iraq on Monday, and a police spokesman said that "many" Iraqi security force members were killed or injured. Al-Jazeera television reported six dead and nine hurt.
The attack took place in Baghdadi, located some 200 kms northwest of the capital.
Meanwhile, three American troops were killed Sunday in clashes in Al-Anbar province of western Iraq, bringing to five the number killed in the province over the past three days, AFP said. Two others were killed on Friday.
Al-Anbar province includes the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi.
