Leading Iranian dissident nationalist Ezatollah Sahabi, 75, of the pro-reform Iran Freedom Movement (IFM), was arrested Sunday by orders of Tehran's revolutionary court, the IFM told AFP.
Sahabi faced charges of insulting Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as anti-regime propaganda during a speech he gave to students in Tehran in November.
During the gathering at the Amir Kabir university in Tehran on November 26, Sahabi denounced the country's conservatives, affirming that the "politics of repression will not be able to last for long."
In November, Sahabi also went on trial at the revolutionary court for taking part in a controversial seminar in Berlin earlier this year over the future of reforms in Iran.
The secular Iran Freedom Movement is unrecognized but tolerated by the Islamic regime in power since 1979 -- TEHRAN (AFP)
