The featured film "Le pain Nu" (Bread alone), an adaptation of the autobiographical novel of famous Moroccan writer Mohamed Choukri, was projected in the first edition of the Casablanca Festival. The film, which was directed by Algeria's Rachid Benhadj, tells the story of Moroccan people during the Franco-Spanish colonization. According to the director of the film, it conveys "a sour and constructive criticism of the social conditions prevailed at the time." Le Matin reports that the film was shot in Rabat and Tangier, which is the birthplace of Choukri.
