During a press conference held Monday at the Awal Boardroom at the Gulf Hotel, Orbit Satellite Television and Radio Network in a joint association with NEC-VIVA Middle East and Europe, announced the launch of a new package “Pinoy Plus”, aimed at providing unique entertainment to the Filipino community within the region.
The event was attended by Mr. Khaled Al Zayani, the Acting CEO of Bahrain Radio and Television Corporation, on behalf of HE Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdul-Ghaffar, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Ghassan Etani, Orbit’s Chief Operating Officer, Ali Ajouz, Orbit’s Vice President – Marketing and Public Relations, Alia Shaikho, Orbit’s Public Relations Manager, Abdulaziz Saleh Abalkhail, President & CEO, Nora Eastern Corporation (NEC), Fidel Dumanhog & Armando Tongol, NEC-VIVA Executive Directors, Jose Gie Sinaon, NEC-VIVA Marketing Director – Media Entertainment Division, and representatives from the local and regional media.
The new package includes two new Filipino channels: Viva Pinoy Box Office, a 24-hour block movie channel; and GMA7 plus Viva Original Pinoy Music TV - a hybrid channel featuring general entertainment and music plus Pinoy Prime Sports, a Filipino sports channel.
Alongwith the new Filipino channels, the package includes a number of existing channels on Orbit Network, namely MGM, Orbit-ESPN, Orbit News, Fashion TV, The Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Animal Planet, Music Now, 20 radio channels, all for the price of US$ 20 per month.

Other packages offered by Orbit are Orbit Mega: which includes all existing channels; Orbit Prime: comprising of western, sports and music channels; Orbit Alfa which lists the Arabic channels, CNN and Music Now; and Orbit Kids: consisting of kids and documentary and channels as well as ESPN.
