A Kuwaiti company has signified its intention of seeking a Thai contractor to build a new national sports stadium in Kuwait, a Thai newspaper said on Monday, quoted by Iranian news agency (IRNA)
A Thai Foreign Ministry source was quoted by the paper as saying that Al-Ghanim International General Trading & Contracting had told the Thai Embassy in Kuwait it would like a partner in its bid to construct the Al-Ahmad Stadium.
The deadline for submitting pre-qualification bids is March 10, said the agency.
Kuwaiti law prohibits foreign companies from bidding on government projects without a local partner.
Kuwait's Public Authority for Youth and Sports plans to build a 60,000-seat, 130,000 square-meter stadium.
