Palestinian minister for social affairs, Intisar al-Wazeer, said she received an approval from the Saud al-Babtain Kuwaiti scholarship for higher education to grant 50 scholarships for the children, brothers and sisters of the al-Aqsa Intifada martyrs.

In a press interview in Ramallah on Sunday, cited by the Kuwaiti official news agency (KUNA), al-Wazeer added that there would be 21 postgraduate and 29 undergraduate scholarships.

The Palestinian official said the undergraduate scholarship is worth around 2,000 to 5,000 U.S. dollars per student according to his or her major.

The total value of the 50 granted scholarships are worth 67,500 dollars, she added.

The scholarships were specified for! the al-Azhar university in Cairo, Egypt, but due to the siege imposed on the Palestinians by Israel, the students will carry out their studies in Palestinian universities, she continued to say.

Al-Wazeer noted that these scholarships are among numerous efforts to lessen the suffering of the martyrs' relatives, support the Palestinian people and promote Arab solidarity, especially that the scholarships are granted by the Kuwaiti businessman Saud al-Babtain. (Albawaba.com)
