Kuwaiti Authorities Crackdown on Prostitution Rings

The Kuwaiti security forces have launched a wide campaign against prostitution and arrested at least 90 men and women most of whom are Asian nationals who used to work as housemaids and servants before they fled their employers’ houses and practiced prostitution, according to Al Qabas Arabic daily. 

Security sources informed the paper that the campaign was launched three days after ago the inhabitants of the area had filed a complaint that prostitution was practiced openly in their area. Acting on the complaint, 58 women and 32 men were arrested. 

According to another paper, Al Watan, the clampdown netted 102 prostitutes, pimps and clients on Wednesday alone, the majority of whom were Asians caught "in the act.” 

The paper was quoted in an AFP report as saying fifty of those arrested were young Asian women who were traded between the rings as sex slaves for between 100 and 500 dinars (325 and 1,625 dollars) based on their color, beauty and age. 

Prostitutes were charging 10 dinars (33 dollars) a trick, half of which was paid to the rings, which police said were being run by Asians living in the subcontinent, according to the report – Albawba.com
