Kuwait's cooperative society has ordered all of its members to stop marketing fish of all types, whether fresh, exported or local, after lab results revealed health hazards, reported the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
In a statement to the agency, the union board chairman said the order was given at the recommendation of the committee assigned to follow up on the "dead fish issue," headed by the minister of public health.
Kuwait has recently seen roughly 600 tons of dead fish wash up on its shores, in a mass kill that scientists have yet to figure out.
The chairman called upon all consumers to be cautious and to follow instructions by the health authorities.
