ALBAWABA –  Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz made a direct threat on Friday to kill Abdul Malik al-Houthi, the leader of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement. He also said that one day the Israeli flag would fly over Sanaa.

Katz wrote on X, "Abdul Malik al-Houthi, your time will come."  You will be sent to hell to join the criminals of the axis of evil and the rest of your government.  His comments came just weeks after an Israeli airstrike in late August killed Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahwi, the Houthis' de facto prime minister, and several ministers while they were meeting in the Yemeni capital.

Katz said that the Houthis' slogan, "Death to Israel, curse upon the Jews," would one day be replaced by the Israeli flag flying over a "united Yemeni capital."

The statement shows that the rhetoric is getting worse as Houthi forces keep firing missiles and drones at Israel and attacking commercial ships that are linked to Israeli interests in the Red Sea and off the coast of Yemen.  The group says that its campaign is part of its support for Palestinians during the Gaza war, which is now almost two years old.

Israel has hit ports, power plants, and Sanaa International Airport in Yemen with deadly strikes over and over again.

In late July, the Houthis said they would step up their maritime campaign by attacking all ships owned by any company that does business with Israeli ports, no matter what country they are from.  The move showed how the conflict in Gaza has spread to other parts of the region, with Yemen now being a major front in the war.
