The Kartdrome at the Dubai Autodrome will host the prestigious 2006 Biland Karting GP the final round of the world karting championship. Previous Biland Kart GP has taken place in 2004 in Braga, Portugal and in 2005 in Sosnova, Czechoslovakia.
Steve McLintock, Director of Kartzone Central, official importer of Biland and Swiss Hutless (Trulli karts) says of the event, "This is a major boost for kart racing across the region. It puts local kart racing on the international map. It provides and ideal opportunity for existing and potential local drivers to see the best Biland four stroke karts and drivers in action using the state of the art Trulli chassis."
Until recently global karting has been dominated by traditional two strokes 100cc and 125cc powered machines. That required constant, meticulous preparation and maintenance which at the highest level comes at a great cost. Team Biland Kart-Power AG planned the next generation engine with a simple design brief: to develop a four stroke engine that is high powered, exciting performance, user friendly and capable of a long life. The result is the new generation Biland SA250, extremely durable, low maintenance, low fuel consumption in high performance at every level. As a result the four stroke route is ultimately being embraced by racers across the globe.
After so many years of working in the world of karting, both behind the wheel and as a technical partner, I have the skill and experience to know what you need to succeed. I am therefore delighted to be able to use that knowledge to develop the new JT4 and JT5 chassis in this partnership with Swiss Hutless. It is an honour to put my name to these new karts and I have no doubt their performance will match my reputation within the sport." Said Jarno Trulli
On the other hand the world renowned commentator Ken Walker from the United Kingdom will be the official Kart-GP 2006 commentator at the Dubai Kartdrome. He is a veteran international kart commentator, having worked in countries like USA, South Africa, Egypt, Malaysia, Lanzarote, Canary Islands and Monaco as well as many European Circuits. Walker is the Series commentator for the Rotax World Challenge, Rotax Euro Challenge, British, Superkarts and European Superkarts. He regularly provides television commentaries on major karting events and contributes to articles for Karting publications worldwide.
In contrast the Dubai Kartdrome has long been preparing for the event and has made upgrades to the venue including sun shades for spectators and general modifications aimed at enhancing the experience for competitors and spectators alike. Dubai Kartdrome's David Terrien, who is a member of the organizing committee, commented on the event, "I'm very glad we have organized the event, the first FIA/CIK event in the UAE. It is a big boost for the Biland class which is growing rapidly in the local karting scene. This event will help develop and help showcase this type of racing at the highest levels. It promises to be one of the best events of its kind.
