The former Vice President of Syria on Thursday accused the country's President, Bashar al Assad of ordering the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik al Hariri last year. Abdul Halim Khaddam made the claimsduring an interview with Sky News.

"In my belief yes, my personal belief is that he ordered it," he said. "But at the end of the day there is an investigation. They must give the final decision."

Last month, Khaddam told Arabiya television that the killing of Hariri could not have been carried out by Syrian agents without Assad's approval.
