ALBAWABA - In a terrible event recorded by Jordanian authorities, a man confessed to hurling his two children into the Zarqa water stream after a family argument.

The Zarqa Governorate's Family Protection Department received a complaint about two missing children who were reportedly taken by their father to an unidentified place, according to a statement from the Public Security Directorate's media spokeswoman. The father admitted to tossing them into the creek over the phone.

Emergency reaction teams were sent out right away to search the area, including Zarqa police officers and Civil Defense divers. After much work, the crews were able to retrieve the two children's corpses from the ocean.

In a statement released via the semi-official "Al-Mamlaka" channel, the media spokesman announced that the father had been arrested. The father acknowledged perpetrating the crime as a result of family conflicts during the first round of interrogation.

Authorities affirmed that inquiries are still being conducted to determine all relevant facts and circumstances surrounding the occurrence. Nationwide, the case has caused shock and grief.
