Heavy rain is expected to drench the entire kingdom this afternoon with snow predicted to fall in mountainous regions above 1,000 meters, according the Jordanian Meteorological Service.

A-Rai daily reports that the weather is expected to return to normal Saturday morning after nearly a week of extreme weather conditions.

Wednesday night, strong winds gusted up to 80 km/h and caused sand storms. The strongest winds ever clocked in Jordan were at 120 km/h and occurred about 15 years ago.

The recent storms dropped the heaviest amount of rain in the Ajlun district with 55mm and in Amman with 20 mm.
