A Royal Decree was issued Thursday accepting the resignation of Jordan's Minister of Finance Dr. Basem Awadallah, as of June 16, 2005. The minister stepped down after coming under harsh criticism in parliament over the poor situation of the local economy.
On his part, King Abdullah II on Thursday directed a letter to Prime Minister Adnan Badran reaffirming that reform is "our national program and reflects our
will and choice for the interest of Jordan." According to Petra, the monarch said that Badran's endeavor to achieve the vision of Jordan's future requires taking the needed procedures to choose who is capable and qualified person who can translate visions into facts for the sake of "Jordan First".
Abdullah added that all of the interest, no matter how big and diverse they are, should not be above the homeland interest.
