Jordan’s King Abdullah leaves Tuesday for a several-day visit to Singapore and East Timor, officials told the Jordan Times on Monday.
The king is expected to meet with the Singaporean president and prime minister for talks mostly focused on economic cooperation and practical steps to increase joint investment and economic projects.
The Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) - a project officially launched on May 17 and through which the kingdom hopes to attract $6 billion in foreign investment and create 70,000 new jobs by 2020 - was tipped to figure high in the talks.
In addition to Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, the king will be accompanied by new ASEZ Authority Chief Commissioner Akel Biltaji, who was serving as tourism minister until Saturday's government reshuffle, and ASEZ Commissioner for Investments Imad Fakhouri, as well as a group of business leaders, sources said.
