The Israeli government will send officials to participate in the December 13 summit in the Moroccan coastal city of Casablanca that will host transportation ministers of the Mediterranean Sea basin, including Syria, Egypt, the PA, and Israel among other littoral states.

"The Israeli transportation minister, Me'ir Shitreet, will attend the summit, which is financed by the European Union, and is expected to suggest building a railway linking the (1948-occupied) city of Haifa with Irbid city in northern Jordan with a branch going to northern West Bank", Israeli press sources reported.

It added that the project is one of several projects jointly tabled by Israel, Jordan, and the PA, and were gaining the Europeans' blessings and support.
