Egyptian Minister of Labor and Immigration Ahmad al Amawi, has said that the work opportunities currently available for Egyptian workers in the Gulf states are far fewer than before due to the circumstances that have prevailed in the region since 1990.
The minister was referring to the changes taking place during and after the Gulf War.
The minister told the Qatari Al Raya newspaper that these conditions have resulted in bringing down the transfers of the Egyptians workers to 5.3 billion dollars from 8.3 billions in 1999.
Al Amawi indicated, however, that the coming days will witness an increase in the demand for labor in the local market due to the heavy investments of the private sector in construction projects, industrial areas and newly established cities.
The minister told the paper that the labor force program, due to be completed during this year, aims at providing 600,000 job opportunities annually for the youth, including 200,000 job opportunities in both the private and consulting sectors - Albawaba.com
