Jebel Ali Free Zone “Jafza” has announced that its successful participation in the Annual International Building & Construction Trade Fair 2006 has helped in generating substantial interest among construction and building materials companies to invest in the free zone. The premier construction industry exhibition was held recently at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in China.
Dr. Mohammed Al Banna, Regional Manager, Asia and Pacific, Jafza, who represented Jafza during the fair, said, “This is the third time we are participating in this specialised trade fair, which is regarded as one of the most high profile events for the construction industry in China. This year too Jafza generated an overwhelming response from participants. China is one of our key target countries and our participation in this event was imperative from a strategic point of view, especially given China’s growing prominence in manufacturing and construction”.
“The booming real estate sector in the Middle East has given numerous opportunities for construction and building materials companies to tap the potential of the region. China’s expertise in construction engineering is globally acclaimed and we are glad that several major Chinese companies have showed their willingness to set up operations within Jafza,” Al Banna added.
The International Building & Construction Trade Fair attracted exhibitors from over 30 countries among which USA, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, and France. A series of activities and conferences were also organized during the event by the government and various industrial associations. One of them was a seminar entitled “Promotion Convention of Dubai Jebel Ali Free Zone in China”, which focused on Dubai in general and Jafza in particular, the development of Dubai in various fields, as well as Jafza’s history and its trade relations with all countries worldwide, particularly with China.
Jafza offers a range of advantages to companies who plan to set up operations in the zone, like simple administrative procedures, zero duties on all import and export goods and machineries within the free zone, modern communication facilities and excellent support services.
