Jadaf Dubai, the oldest ship repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, successfully conducted a three-month long training programme in the operation and maintenance of synchrolifts for an eight-member group of trainees from Qatar’s armed forces.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony held recently at Dubai Police Officers Club to mark the conclusion of the programme, H.E. Hamed Mohammad Bin Lahej, Director General of JADAF Dubai observed that every new training course and every new crane present real challenges, and mastering fresh skills and technology offers valuable lessons that benefit everyone.
Presiding over the ceremony, Bin Lahej thanked the training faculty and participants for contributing to the success of the course, which aimed to impart JADAF Dubai’s expertise to Qatari Nationals. This was the second training course organised by the yard.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Abdul Aziz Al Kaabi, Deputy Head of the Qatari group, expressed his team’s appreciation and thanks for the cooperation and hospitality extended by Dubai Government. He also praised through JADAF Dubai’s willingness to share its valuable knowledge and experience with his countrymen.
JADAF Dubai earlier conducted a similar training programme on the operation and maintenance of electronic cranes. Both these programmes dealt with secondary courses on topics including marine security and safety, lifting and lowering, aspects of similarity and difference between JADAF Dubai and the Dubai Dry Docks and fire fighting operations.
Hasan Mossabah Al Shamsi, Advisor and Head of the Organising Committee, JADAF Dubai, lauded the dedication and commitment shown by the Qatari graduates and thanked the training faculty for contributing to the programme’s success.
Recent studies have placed JADAF Dubai as the world’s leading yard for vessel lifting and lowering operations, having handled 1675 such operations during 2005. The increasing number of docking and undocking operations has given valuable experience to the staff and has prompted several countries to send their employees to JADAF Dubai for training. The yard has been maintaining and repairing ships from the region, South Asia, Africa and Europe for the past 28 years.
