A civilian Israeli vehicle traveling around 30 kilometers northwest of the southern Israeli city of Eilat, near the Egyptian border, came under fire on Tuesday morning.
The gunmen, in addition, hurled a hand grenade at the vehicle and opened fire on an Israel military patrol vehicle which was called to the area to investigate the incident.
The gunmen opened fire from the west at around 4 a.m. (local time). The driver accelerated, and drove on to an Israeli army checkpoint some 10 kilometers west of Eilat and reported the incident. No injuries were reported.
Israeli security forces were searching the area for the attackers and the road has been closed off to traffic. Forces assessed that the gunmen opened fire inside Israel, and not from nearby Egypt. (Albawaba.com)
