ALBAWABA - At least 23 Palestinians were killed on Friday following a new wave of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, including a direct hit on a UNRWA facility in the Jabalia refugee camp, according to medical sources and Al Jazeera reporters.
Four people were killed when Israeli warplanes struck a UNRWA food distribution center in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip. The airstrikes, which began early in the morning, continued throughout the day targeting multiple areas, leaving widespread devastation.
In Gaza City, three civilians were killed when a commercial shop in Al-Rimal neighborhood was bombed, and another was killed in a drone strike on the Tel Al-Hawa district. A fifth person died following an earlier strike near Al-Amal Hotel.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that a body was recovered from Al-Nazzaz Street in Al-Shuja’iya after an early morning strike, while a barber shop on Al-Wehda Street was later targeted. Several neighborhoods, including Al-Tuffah and Al-Shuja’iya, were shelled by Israeli artillery, wounding a girl who was hit by gunfire from a small Israeli surveillance drone.
In northern Gaza, another Palestinian was killed in Beit Hanoun after an Israeli airstrike hit a residential building, and nearby Beit Lahia also suffered multiple rounds of bombardment. Israeli ground forces continued incursions along the Gaza border, particularly near Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun, areas where they have faced heavy resistance.
In the southern Gaza Strip, the Israeli military launched air raids near Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, and continued demolition operations in Rafah, leveling residential buildings. In central Gaza, Israeli forces opened fire near Al-Bureij camp, as reported by Palestinian media.
In a separate incident, Al Jazeera confirmed the killing of one Palestinian fisherman and injury of another after Israeli forces opened fire on their boat northwest of Gaza City. A video circulating on social media showed the two men on a small vessel before being attacked.
The Gaza Ministry of Health announced that 27 Palestinians were killed and 85 injured within the past 24 hours. Since the resumption of hostilities on March 18, 2025, the ministry recorded 2,678 deaths and over 7,300 injuries. The total number of casualties since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has now reached 52,787 killed and around 119,350 wounded.
Emergency teams continue to report that numerous victims remain trapped under rubble or lie in streets that are inaccessible due to ongoing attacks and destruction.
