An Israeli soldier was killed overnight Monday in a training accident near the Negev town of Arad, Israel Radio reported, cited by Haaretz newspaper.

Ariel Raviv, 20, was most likely killed as a result of friendly fire during a training exercise, said the radio.

Raviv is the third soldier to be killed in a training accident in the last week, said the paper.

As a result, Israeli Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz announced Tuesday that the army will not hold any training exercises on Thursday, and will instead spend the time going over safety regulations with troops, the paper said – Albawaba.com
