An Israeli soldier was seriously injured Tuesday in a mine explosion near the disputed Shabaa Farms, said reports.

Following the blast, Israeli helicopters were reported hovering over the area.

Haaretz newspaper reported Wednesday that Israeli troops were on maximum alert along the Lebanon border, fearing attacks by the Lebanese Hizbollah movement to mark the first anniversary of Israel's troop withdrawal from south Lebanon.

The paper said Israeli soldiers had reduced the number of patrols along the border, to reduce their vulnerability to possible Hizbollah attempts to attack or kidnap Israeli troops - Albawaba.com
