ALBAWABA - The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) leader Wissam Hazem was assassinated in the West Bank village of Al-Zababdeh, according to confirmation from the Israeli military. Hazem and two other people were killed after an Israeli drone attack struck the car he was riding in.
Today is the third day of what is billed as the biggest attack in the area since 2002—an enhanced military action by Israel in the northern West Bank.
During violent clashes in the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm on Thursday, Israeli soldiers also assassinated Muhammad Jaber, also known as "Abu Shujaa," a leader in the Al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad Movement's military wing. Jaber has spent ten years on the run.
Since the start of the military assault, 17 deaths and 22 injuries have been documented by Palestinian medical officials.
Israel has escalated its military operations in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, as it carries out its nearly year-long onslaught in Gaza. Over 5,400 Palestinians have been wounded, over 10,000 have been imprisoned, and 670 Palestinians have been murdered so far—150 of them were children.
