ALBAWABA - In a renewed escalation, Israel has conducted a targeted strike in Syria, focusing on Iranian figures. The missile attack resulted in the tragic death of at least four members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, bringing the total casualties to a minimum of 10.

The assault took place within the Syrian capital, Damascus, specifically targeting the Mazzeh District—an area fortified and housing diplomatic missions, including those of Lebanon and Iran.

This offensive transpired within 24 hours of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's declaration, affirming Israel's active engagement against Iran. Netanyahu stated, 'We are attacking Iran. We see their weapons everywhere, from Iran as the octopus's head to Hezbollah, Houthis, and Hamas. Iran is the common thread.'

The Mehr News Agency in Iran confirmed the casualties, identifying the victims as officers from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' secret service.

The report detailed, 'In the Israeli attack on Syria, the Chief of Revolutionary Guards' intelligence, his deputy, and two other members of the Revolutionary Guards were martyred.'

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the targeted Iranian soldiers were holding a meeting with allied leaders in a multi-story building.

The organization emphasized that this location served as a regular meeting point for representatives of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and pro-Iranian Palestinian organizations.

This incident follows Israel's previous airstrike targeting the Iranian Revolutionary Guards last month, resulting in the loss of General Razi Musavi.

In a broader context, Israel has consistently conducted airstrikes in Syria against targets affiliated with Palestinian and Lebanese Hezbollah organizations, viewing them as adversaries. The intensity of these attacks notably surged after Hamas initiated an offensive against Israel on October 7."
