Israeli troops withdrew from the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Yunis on Tuesday morning, following a 30-hour operation that left 17 Palestinians dead.
According to the Palestinians, among the dead was a Hamas activist who was killed in an Israel Air Force missile strike on Khan Yunis refugee camp early Tuesday. Seven other people were said to have been injured in the strike.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces opened fire on two Palestinians they said were "laying an explosive device near the Gaza Strip settlement of Ganei Tal" early on Tuesday, reports added.
According to the report, the soldiers hit the two men, and the bomb they were planting exploded.
Elsewhere, throughout the West Bank, Israeli soldiers arrested six "wanted" Palestinians overnight Monday.
On Monday, meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister, Ahmed Qurei called on the international community to end their silence towards the Israeli occupation crimes against the Palestinian people, believing that words are no longer efficient, IPC reported.
Qurei, in the course of his cabinet's meeting in Ramallah, stressed the need for actions rather than words by the international community, expressing the belief that Israel is a acting as if it were a state above the law. (Albawaba.com)
