The Israeli "political-security cabinet" decided unanimously Wednesday evening to renew contacts with the Palestinian Authority.
According to Haaretz Web site, the Israeli prime minister's office published a statement indicating that "no diplomatic contacts will take place, but security cooperation will resume."
Israeli and Palestinian security officials are scheduled to hold a coordination meeting either Wednesday or Thursday night.
Ariel Sharon decided to halt all contacts with the PA last Friday after a Palestinian attack on the "Karni Crossing" between Israel and the northern Gaza Strip killed six Israelis.
The Israeli cabinet also approved Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz's recommendation to give the PA a chance to stop the attacks, but instructed the Israeli Army to prepare for a large-scale raid in the Gaza Strip.
