Israeli troops killed a 50-year-old Palestinian man early Saturday during an operation in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian security officials said. The man was killed shortly after the occupation troops moved into Gaza Strip to search fields and homes, the officials said.

The Palestinian officials said the man was a civilian who had just left his home on the way to morning prayers.

Palestinian security officials and witnesses said a separate Israeli force of some 20 tanks entered northern Gaza Strip, blocking the entrance to the town of Beit Hanoun and exchanging fire with Palestinian fighters there.

Meanwhile, three rockets landed in open areas in and around the Israeli town of Sderot Saturday morning. One person was lightly injured Friday in a rocket strike in the center of Sderot. Several other people were treated for shock, Haaretz reported.
