Israel on Friday carried out a test of its Arrow anti-missile system, which Israeli security sources called a response to the mounting threat of ballistic missiles in the region.
According to Haaretz, the Israeli test launch came as a Russian newspaper reported that Iran had signed a deal to purchase Russian tactical surface-to-air missile systems. "The success of the test will improve the operational capabilities that already exist today in the Arrow system, which will be able to successfully cope with future threats," Israel's Defense Ministry director general was quoted as saying.
The simulated enemy missile used in the test resembles the Iranian Shihab-3 missile.
