ALBAWABA - A US official told ABC News that Israel launched a missile attack on Iran early Friday morning in response to Tehran's attack last Saturday night. The New York Times reported confirming the strike citing two Israeli defense officials.

According to media outlets, Iranian local sources reported explosions in Isfahan in central Iran. Nonetheless, Israeli Channel 12 said that the Israeli army bombed a military airport in the Isfahan region.

Furthermore, Tasnim News Agency confirmed that no explosions occurred in Tabriz, and the sounds heard were caused by the defenses intercepting suspicious objects.

The Israeli missile launches followed Iran's attack, during which more than 300 uncrewed drones and missiles were fired toward Tel Aviv.

Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari said in a statement that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched 170 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), more than 120 ballistic missiles and more than 30 cruise missiles, but he confirmed that 99 percent of the Iranian missiles were intercepted by Israel and its allies the US and the UK.

Since the Iranian attack, the Israeli war cabinet and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have held several meetings and vowed to respond. According to ABC News, at least two strikes were previously aborted.

The Tehran missile attack on Israel came after a deadly attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria's Damascus, which Iran blamed Israel for. Seven people were killed in the attack on the Iranian embassy including two two commanders in the IRGC.
