The Israeli government has approved the transfer of $47.2 million to the Jerusalem municipality for the purpose of “improving infrastructure” in occupied Arab east Jerusalem.
According to Haaretz, the decision to authorize Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's proposal for this fiscal year was made in a special cabinet meeting Tuesday.
The funds are intended to "strengthen the city,” and all the money is to be used to improve infrastructure in east Jerusalem including transportation, construction, housing and tourism.
Palestinians, Arab and foreign parties accuse Israeli of applying a policy of "Judaizing" the Arab city, which was occupied in 1967 and immediately annxed to the Jewish state.
