ALBAWABA - At least 10 family members of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas, were killed in an Israeli airstrike that hit western Gaza City, Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday.

A medical source confirmed that the sister of Ismail Haniyeh was also among those killed in the airstrike in Gaza.

Months earlier, an Israeli attack killed three sons of the head of Hamas; Hazem, Amir and Mohammad, along with a number of his grandchildren on the Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

Haniyeh also confirmed that his children were killed during a visit to relatives for Eid at the Shati refugee camp.

In April, the Hamas leader said in an interview with Al Jazeera that since the start of the war in October, around 60 members of his family, including nieces and nephews, have been killed in Gaza.

The death toll in the Gaza Strip has jumped to 37,626 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since Oct. 7 with the number of injuries surging to 86,098, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza on Monday.
