A unit of Iran's Basij Islamic militia has arrested some 60 people attending a "depraved" party in the southern city of Shiraz, a report said Wednesday.

The conservative Kayhan evening newspaper said the group of men and women had been caught dancing, adding that some of those detained had also consumed alcoholic beverages. It said the group was being detained pending trial, adding that the Basij forces had seized video film of the party as well as quantities of alcohol, the consumption of which is strictly outlawed in the Islamic republic.
