PA Minister of Civil Affairs, Mohammed Dahlan, on Wednesday denounced the incident of firing a home-made Palestinian rocket at a Palestinian house north of Gaza Strip, describing it as "a national disgrace". Dahlan said firing the so-called rockets gives Israel the excuses to criticize the PA, stressing that an end must be put to such "irresponsible acts."

On Tuesday night, a Palestinain child was inadvertently killed and eight other family members were wounded when a home-made rocket hit a house in the northern Gaza Strip city of Beit Hanoun. There was no claim of responsibility for Tuesday night's attack, which was aimed at a large gathering of Israeli pullout opponents in the town of Sderot.

On its part, the Islamic Jihad declared on Wednesday that it would stop firing rockets at Israeli targets during Israel's planned Gaza Strip withdrawal. Islamic The movement also denied any involvement and called the attack an "unfortunate incident." It said it had issued orders three days ago to stop firing rockets "to give the chance for a quiet Zionist departure from our beloved Gaza."
