Many countries, including some with veto power, disagree with US demands for a new United Nations Security Council resolution, Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri said in Cairo on Monday.

"Not only Iraq, but countries which are permanent members of the Security Council and many other states see no need to adopt a new resolution ... in accordance with US wishes," Sabri said as he arrived in the Egyptian capital from Baghdad, according to AFP.

"The aim behind this storm of threats and accusations against Iraq about its so-called weapons of mass destruction is not to check whether they exist or not, but to achieve the aggressive goals of the United States."

Minister Sabri said he had a message from President Saddam Hussein for his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak dealing with the "difficult conditions our region is going through." (Albawaba.com)
