A roadside bomb killed three Iraqi National Guard troops Monday and officials said an oil pipeline near Kirkuk was blown up and two senior police officers killed in Baghdad.

The three troops were killed by a bomb that detonated in Baqouba, located northeast of Baghdad, as their convoy passed, said Mudafar Al-Juburi of the Dyala police station. Three other soldiers were wounded, he added, according to The AP.

Near Kirkuk, the Al-Dibbis oilfield belonging to the North Oil Co. was attacked, said Maj. Gen. Anwar Mohammad Amin. The pipeline supplied oil for local use and the damage will hamper production, he said.

In Baghdad, gunmen firing from a car killed two high-ranking policemen Sunday night, an Interior Ministry official said. Attackers also fired six mortars at a police station in central Baghdad, injuring three, police said.

Elsewhere, an Iraqi translator for Italian troops and his son were shot to death Sunday in the southern city of Nasiriyah, a spokesman for Italy's military said. The spokesman said officials were investigating and so far had no leads.
