At least 16 Kuwaiti nationals were killed and many others injured in Iraq early Sunday when the bus they were traveling in turned over.
The passengers of the bus were on their way back to Kuwait after attending the funeral of Shiite leader Al-Merza Abdulrasul Al-Ehqaqi, which took place in the holy city of Karbala.
KUNA news agency, citing relatives, reported that the bus accident occurred as the vehicle collided into a metal barrier along one of the bridges in southern Iraq. They said that about 15 unidentified passengers were killed, most were Kuwaitis, but, according to them, some were Saudis. The news agency added that the bus was among 13 buses that transported hundreds of mourners who participated in the burial of the Shiite cleric.
The bus turned over some 55 kilometers from the Iraq-Kuwait border. (Albawaba.com)
