Head of the Presidential Office Ali Khatami in Tehran on Sunday called for the expansion of ties between Tehran and Algiers.

The Press and Information Department at the Presidential Office quoted Khatami as telling the Algerian Ambassador to Tehran Abdulqadir Hijaz that given cultural, historical and political commonalties shared by both Iran and Algeria, the two countries are required to further activate their joint economic commission, according to IRNA.

In addition, he called for an exchange of visits by Iranian and Algerian parliamentary friendship groups.

Hijaz emphasized the need for strengthening cooperation between the Islamic Republic and Algeria and called for a speedy implementation of the already reached accords, drafting protocols and further activation of the joint economic commission. (Albawaba.com)
