Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs Mohammed-Ali Hadi Najafabadi arrived in Abu Dhabi Tuesday for bilateral talks with senior Emirati officials, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).
It said that Najafabadi held talks with UAE’s Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammed Al Nahyan.
The agency did not mention whether the two sides discussed the isles dispute during their meeting.
Both countries have said they will never retract their claims to three strategic islands in the Arabian Gulf, which Iran has held since 1971 when Britain pulled out of the region.
