Iranian President Mohammad Khatami returned to his country on Wednesday, following a four-day "fruitful" visit to Malaysia to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Commenting on his Malaysia trip, President Khatami said he was very pleased with the outcome of his visit and described it as "very successful", according to IRNA. The President, accompanied by a 91-member delegation including five Cabinet ministers, witnessed the signing of two bilateral agreements and four memoranda of understandings between Iran and Malaysia in such fields as tourism and information technology.
Meanwhile, President Khatami sent messages of friendship and peace to senior officials of countries, which he flew over on his way back home from Malaysia. In messages to officials of Myanmar, Thailand, India and Pakistan, he expressed hope that relations and cooperation between Tehran and those countries would be further broadened in all areas in a bid to serve the interest of both sides.
Ex-foreign minister and Supreme Leader's Senior Adviser Ali Akbar Velayati and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref greeted President Khatami at the Mehrabad Airport. (Albawaba.com)
