Iranian Police Officer Killed Chasing Armed Robber

An Iranian police officer was killed and his subordinate was injured while chasing an armed robber in the southern city of Bushehr on Saturday.  

“Colonel Mohammad Hashemi was shot and martyred by a notorious bandit who was wanted by police for killing two people,” a police statement said, cited by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.  

His colleague sustained injuries, said the statement.  

Police forces later surrounded the roober's hideout and killed him during a shoot-out.  

The robber, identified as Mohammad Taqi Bahadori, opened fire at Hashemi and his colleague when they were trying to arrest him. 

He later got on a motorbike and was trying to flee when he was trapped by police, the statement added – Albawaba.com
