ALBAWABA - Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) claims it has struck an American tanker in the northern part of the Persian Gulf.
According to the IRGC, fire engulfed the U.S. tanker after it was attacked, Iran's state media reported Thursday.
Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz following an escalation between the Persian country and the US and Israel following a preemptive attack on Tehran.
Yesterday, a U.S. submarine attacked an Iranian warship, leading to it sinking in international waters off Sri Lanka's coast, says U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Hegseth revealed in a press conference that the attack on the warship was the "first such attack on an enemy since World War II".
Sri Lanka's navy said in a statement that it recovered the bodies of 87 people and rescued 32 sailors.
On the other hand, Iran announced sending another frigate towards Sri Lanka's territorial waters after the attack on the first one, Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
